According to recent reports, Georgia pedestrian fatalities are already up to 45 in 2013. As weather gets warmer and more people hit the streets, those numbers are, unfortunately, expected to rise. Atlanta's PEDS (Pedestrians Educating Drivers on Safety) is fighting to change those statistics.
PEDS Goals:
- Change community attitudes to favor pedestrians.
- Increase walking and other pedestrian activity.
- Ensure the design of pedestrian-oriented communities.
- Advance equitable use of transportation funds.
- Make Sidewalks and crossings safe and accessible to all users.
- Reduce the risk to pedestrians of injury and death.
