According to Clayton County police, at least four vehicles were involved in the fatal I-285 collision, which occurred around 6:20pm Wednesday evening.
Rafael Menchaca-Dellado, of Covington, was flipped several times and ejected from his Ford F-150 pickup truck during the horrific crash. Tragically, he perished at the scene.
A tractor-trailer, construction truck and Nissan Maxima were also involved in the accident, which left three others injured. Their conditions have not yet been released.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident and are searching for one driver who apparently fled the scene in a white vehicle, which should show damage to the front passenger side. Authorities have not announced whether this driver is believed to have caused the fatal crash.
Attorneys at The Murray Law Firm are investigating the tragic accident and question whether impairment may have been a factor in the hit-and-run driver's decision to flee the scene.
Should the driver be found at fault for impairment or reckless driving, the family of Rafael Menchaca-Dellado may elect to hold the driver civilly liable for his wrongful death. The many other victims of this accident may also elect to hold the at-fault driver civilly liable for all injuries they sustained during the crash.
Given the number of parties involved and the complexity of these claims, the victims and families should retain an experienced personal injury firm without delay to ensure their best interests are protected. Although victims are rightfully entitled to insurance coverage maximums, all too often, we see insurance companies more concerned with protecting their own financial interests than providing victims and families with the care and compensation they deserve.
The Murray Law Firm works relentlessly to ensure recovery for our clients, victims and families, like these, who have been left devastated by impaired and reckless drivers. Our prayers are with the family of Rafael Menchaca-Dellado and the many injured victims of this accident. We offer our experience and legal expertise to all those involved, if needed.
